About David Salle
David Salle was born in 1952 in Oklahoma, and lives and works in New York.
David Salle’s large figurative paintings refer to the history of art, advertising, film, erotica, comic strips and his own black-and-white photographs. A characteristic of the postmodern painting of the 1980s, when David Salle had his international breakthrough, is the breakdown of the grand narratives in favour of "bricolage", the play with many different elements.
